06.08.11 - DAY 218 - Phat Death

Listen (and/or buy) now on Bandcamp

More heaviness tonight. I ran out of time before I could do much with the drums. Last night I spent a couple of hours programming the drums, tonight I spent about 20 minutes. Ah well. Only myself to blame for not getting up early this morning (my sleep pattern has been upside down the last week or so). Anyway, disclaimers aside, I think this is a decent CHUGGY, RIFF-A-RAMA!

Enjoy

04.08.11 - DAY 216 - Ye Ha

Listen (and/or buy) now on Bandcamp

This track may have a bit of an identity crisis. Weirdly, the impetus for this track was hearing a busker in the city centre playing Wild Wood by Paul Weller. It was a lovely, sunny afternoon. Perhaps I should have taken it as a warning, when the skies completely emptied and bucketed down, a couple of hours later.

03.08.11 - DAY 215 - Whether You Like It Or Not

Listen (and/or buy) now on Bandcamp

Another sad(?) song tonight. I'm feeling a blurrreegghhh. So there ya go. Also, it's pretty shocking how much it hurt my fingertips playing this song on my semi-acoustic. I think that means I need to practice a lot more!

01.08.11 - DAY 213 - Vicky

Listen (and/or buy) now on Bandcamp

A new month! Song A Day For A Year continues. Marching on, like a herd of strong bulls, through the sands of endless surprise and expectation. Slamming down another song like the hooves of a great horse, galloping through the plains of success.

Or something...

Today's track came out rather pleasing as far as I'm concerned: I loved the simple polyrhythms of the drums, which are made up of a Reason kit and a loop that I chopped a bit. Fairly simple, yet quite hypnotic, I thought.

The guitar layers really lifted this and that triplet bassline, playing against the 5/4 rhythm makes for an interesting groove.

Some basic, one take, vocals, through loads of effects (as always!) and cut up samples from a news reporter losing the rag.

Enjoy

31.07.11 - DAY 212 - Game

Listen (and/or download for free) now on Bandcamp

Another freebie tonight! Download this track from Bandcamp for free folks. Ending the July album with a fairly sombre tone. Like Nevermind ends with Something In The Way, or Beck's Odelay ends with Ramshackle. Short and simple.

Enjoy

Cheers ^_^
